Wiston Lodge, July 2026
Just back from the annual Max Appeal Scottish camp at Wiston.
What an incredible week with incredible people. Such fun.
22qers are an incredible bunch of people who do incredible things given the opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who came along and here’s to next year! - Martin.
We’ve received some very kind words from some of the attendees.
“Thank you to Max Appeal for organising such a great event. It is such a unique calming woodland green space with kind instructors who are very adaptable and inclusive.
The group themselves are very kind and supportive, it is so good to talk to others in the same situation and they gave helpful advice.
It is an environment where you can challenge yourself, learn more about 22q and it also feels like respite.
It was lovely to see old and new friends and we Hope to see you all next year. Xxx”
“Our holiday at the Wiston lodge activity holiday centre with the Max Appeal provided me and my daughters with very special memories and experiences. My daughter has been struggling with 22q11 diagnosis and identity over the past few months. This break gave us all time to celebrate being a family and enabled us to meet others with 22q11 for the first time. It was a wonderful experiance that has rejuvenated us and has left us with amazing experiences and the knowledge that we are not alone. Thank you Max Appeal for providing such a fun experiance and showing me that there is a such a supportive community. We leave with happy shared memories, we feel stronger to carry on with our journey and look forward to returning.”
“I’m not really sure how to put into words just how needed this has been for myself and for P. Other than home, I didn’t think a safe, welcoming, nurturing, understanding and kind space existed for us until this week. A place for P to learn, bond, express herself, and push herself in a way she hasn’t been able to before.
This has been the only form of respite my sons and my dad who all live their lives day to day around P’s needs have had. And although I was with P this week this felt like respite for her and I too. I felt like I could breathe, think clearly, be present and join in fun for the first time in seven years. This has been truly invaluable for us as a family- thank you”
