The Society for the Study of Behavioural Phenotypes

3-5th September 2026

The 28th SSBP International Research Symposium

Edinburgh UK

The Chair of Max Appeal, Julie Wootton, and Vice Chair, Mandy Sanderson, were delighted to be invited to present at the Society for the Study of Behavioural Phenotypes conference in Edinburgh this September as the Family Voice presentation, talking about the work of Max Appeal supporting families and raising awareness.

Max Appeal was first established 25 years ago and has grown since then to be one of the largest parent-led organisations in the world, providing practical support for members alongside community engagement events and activities.   We coordinate closely with a robust network of international advocacy and research groups to drive knowledge and awareness across healthcare, education, academia and government.    Mandy and Julie highlighted the successes and challenges of Max Appeal’s rare disease advocacy for 22q11.2 deletion syndrome;  the clinical consensus document currently in development; and shared feedback from members that will help shape the organisational strategy and priorities for action for 2026 onwards.
