Here is our latest edition of the November newsletter, which we are excited to share with you.

November is recognised as 22q11.2 DS Awareness Month, a significant time dedicated to raising awareness about this condition. Previously, we have reached out to local businesses and public buildings, encouraging them to light up in red as a way to show support and help raise awareness for 22q. If you happen to know of any individuals or organisations we could contact to further this initiative, please feel free to drop us an email with any relevant details. We are currently in the process of updating our About Us informational leaflet. We are actively seeking families or individuals who would be willing to provide us with a short paragraph. We understand that it can be quite challenging to condense such a significant experience into just a few words, but we would greatly appreciate insights on how you felt when you first received the 22q diagnosis, and in what ways Max Appeal was able to assist and support you during that time. Your contributions will help us connect with others who may be facing similar challenges.

David Hawksworth and Spencer Forsbrooke Coast to Coast walk

Paul, Julie, Martin and Chloe met up with David Hawksworth and Spencer Forsbrooke nr Reeth in North Yorkshire mid- way through their coast to coast walk. They started on the west coast of England on 11th September and over 12 days walked 212 miles finishing up in Robin Hoods Bay. Their aim was to raise funds and awareness for a range of 12 charities, with one being promoted every day. Max Appeal was nominated by Auto Trader employee John Thompson who completed Ride London back in 2022.

Team of six take on Wales’s Three Peaks in aid of charity

Six local people have run the three highest peaks in Wales in just 34 hours and have raised £2,000 for ‘Max Appeal’ a charity that raises awareness of a chromosome deletion disorder.

Jordan Powell, Ria Davey, Connor Parry, Cameron Parry, Huw McGrath, and Tim Davies ran the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge as part of a relay team, to raise awareness and highlight the work of the charity Max Appeal.

Craig McKee and team Plumbase climbed Ben Lormond in aid of Max Appeal

A big thank you to Craig McKee and the team at Plumbase in Paisley. They completed a climb of Ben Lomond at 3,196ft (the most southerly of the 282 Munros in Scotland). This is Craig’s second fundraiser of the year following his very successful golf day back in June. Once again the support for this event was fantastic raising over £2,800.

Ashford mum’s run for ‘superstar’ son

An Ashford mum took her long-running fight for awareness and funds to support more children with a little-known chromosome disorder to the streets of London.
