BT Community Award

Max Appeal!, has received a boost from a major BT award scheme “BT Community Connections“, which aims to award £1 million worth of Internet ready PC’s to community groups across the UK. The Group has been awarded a PC and 1 year’s access to the Internet.

Max Appeal! is using the Internet to ensure up to date information about the 22q11.2 deletion is available to medical and health professionals and families, enabling the best medical, developmental and educational strategies to be planned for each child.

Julie Wootton was interviewed by local press (see picture) and said “We are absolutely delighted with our BT Community Connections Award. The use of an Internet ready PC will enable both new and existing members to access information about this Chromosome deletion easily and effectively and also gives people the option to contact us directly using the website.

In addition, members of the Group will be able to obtain details of other families in their area affected by the condition.”

Derek Inman, BT Community Connections project manager, West Midlands added: “This year long scheme aims to give as many people as possible access to the internet and allows Groups to develop their projects using easier and more effective methods.”

By obtaining local press coverage, we can educate and inform our communities about 22q11.2 deletion.
