Charles Houghton (Jordan’s Dad) writes…
We had a great time and Jordan had been looking forward to this trip for weeks, the party for the children the evening before at the hotel was great , all the children received a present .
On arrival at the airport in Finland you cross over the road to a hanger were you are all provided with snow suits , once you are changed you then go on a 40 minute skido ride to Lapland and yes it is very cold.
Once you are there it is quite a magical place with music playing in the background the occasional lamp shining children on sleighs & some of the locals in costume. And Father Christmas in a log cabin sat in a big armchair next to an open log fire to see Jordan’s face and all the children’s faces makes the trip so worthwhile. (Its nothing like your Father Christmas at the local Co-op).
Their was plenty to do with Reindeer rides, Skido rides etc, it was a very memorable day and it went so quickly. The journey home took a little longer as the plane would not start so we were eventually transported to hotels for the night, we all adopted a Dunkirk spirit; the group we were with were great & many friendships were made.
We went back to the airport the following day, we finally arrived back at Gatwick on the Sunday at 4.00 pm. But it was a great and memorable day for all the children and one I am sure they will remember for the rest of their lives. Jordan has told all his friends and his teacher about the trip.
So once again a special thanks for giving Jordan and myself the opportunity to go.
