Consensus - update April 2008
You may have heard of this project - it is an attempt to get everyone on board in treating DGS/22q1.1 and singing from the same hymn sheet, with absolute best current practice. (writes Mike Hennessey, trustee)
Well overdue you might think, but
not that easy. We have our first Consultant's meeting on 23rd April in Birmingham.
It is likely to cost a good few quid to do (not in fees I stress) but imagine the benefit for those coming behind us - no more blank stares and reference to a booklet where you can read all about the possible consequences of a diagnosis (as and when you are ready to take it all in). The Doctors will have a template to consider what to do next in case of any doubt - very useful for the hard pressed G.P. 's out there, just for one example. It is all pretty exciting.
Once again
I have to mention money. Anyone out there who either may want to make a donation or have an idea as to how to raise some money, please let me know. I would like to raise about £10-15,000 for this so as they say, every little helps. I am also looking for a kind printer who might put it in a professional and presentable form. mike@maxappeal.org.uk
